Blessed Day and Divinity Plates

Planning a Christening is a joyous celebration to mark a family’s intention to raise their child in faith. It allows family and friends to join together and support this effort and to help guide the child as he or she starts their spiritual journey. Often, godparents are chosen as special individuals in the child’s life who make a commitment to love, care for and help raise the child if something should ever happen to his or her parents. The traditions vary by religions but it often involves sprinkling holy water on the the child’s head during the ceremony as parents vow to dedicate their child to the service of God. This is a wonderful celebratory event that family and friends can take part in.

Party Decor:
Since a Christening celebrates the purity and religious journey of the child, simple white decorations are definitely appropriate. However, there are many themes to choose from for baptism party supplies that feature colors of pink and blue as well as religious emblems like crosses and angels. Create beautiful centerpieces with white flowers to add a touch of elegance to your table setting. When planning a christening party, less may be more. Think simple, clean and graceful as choose your religious tableware and decorations.

Food:
If it is your child’s Christening day, you will undoubtedly be extremely busy and may want to keep this in mind as you’re planning the menu. Consider having the party catered if you can or ask family and friends to bring main dishes or salads to share. For dessert, serve  a beautiful white cake with the child’s initials or name and Christening date. Keep the menu planning and cooking to a minimum for yourself, you’ll have plenty of other details to attend to!

Keepsake Activities:

  • Setup a small video camera and ask that the party guests record well wishes and advice for the child and the family. When edited, this will make a wonderful keepsake memory of a very special day.
  • Take Polaroids of the guests as they arrive and place them in a Christening scrapbook. Ask them to write their favorite bible verse to share with  the child under their photo.

Party Favors:

Providing your guests with a take home favor is a great way to thank them for being a part of your celebration.

  • Fill goody bags with white candy or cookies to present to your guests.
  • Embroider small handkerchiefs with your child’s name and christening date and a bible verse.
  • Choose from a selection of baptism party favors that might include candles, bookmarks, crosses and more

A Christening celebration should be an enjoyable occasion for all who attend. Keep the planning simple and instead focus on creating memories!

What would you choose for a religious favor?
